Free Trees for Babies 2024
Trees for distribution in February 2024
Due to the overwhelming success of this project, there are no more trees available in 2023.
However, we are now taking registrations for 2024 - please see below for details.
To encourage tree planting in gardens we’ll give you a free tree to plant in your garden to mark your baby’s birth. You can apply for a tree if:
You live in the Stirling Council area;
You have a pre-school child in your family, or to celebrate an adoption, or commemorate a lost baby;
You have room for at least a small tree to grow in your garden.
Apply for Your Tree
The scheme is open for applications until the 30th November 2023. Please complete the form below to apply.
Choose Your Tree
In 2023/24, applicants can choose from the following trees: Field Maple, Sessile Oak, Bird Cherry and Crab Apple . Trees will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Depending on demand you may not get the type of tree you choose, but we'll try our hardest to give you your first choice. You can also download this list of available trees to keep or print, which includes pictures of the trees.
Please choose your tree from the drop down menu below.
Collect Your Tree
We aim to have the trees ready for you to pick up in February from the TreeLink Nursery in Stirling. As well as your tree, we’ll give you a stake and tie if you need it, a mulch mat, and a guide to planting and caring for your tree.
Plant Your Tree
Depending on which type of tree you chose, it will probably measure between 1.0 and 2.0 metres in height when you collect it. It will be either in a pot, or bare rooted. Click here for advice on planting your tree.
