About the event

Yes it’s that time of year again! The Himalayan balsam is coming up and we need volunteers to come along and help pull it up. Himalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native plant species which shades out and crowds out many native plants. This woodland is very special, and we want to keep it that way

TreeLink Stirling has been given permission by NatureScot to work to remove Himalayan Balsam from Balquhidderock Wood (Bluebellwood).

It’s a very easy and enjoyable activity, sitting in a woodland listening to bird song and bathing in the woodland glory! We made huge progress last year and it’s obvious that pulling it up works!

  • Guidance will be provided. Bring your own gloves and kneeler, if required and wear long sleeves.

  • Balquidderrock Woods is hill and can ben uneven underfoot, please wear sturdy footwear.

  • The weather is Scottish! Please dress accordingly and bring a drink.
