Part of the

Kildean
- a haven for nature on your doorstep
Stirling Council own over 30 hectares of land at Kildean which is bounded on three sides by the River Forth. This land was once agricultural fields grazed by animals passing through the Kildean Cattle Market which closed in 2009. Since then, the land has been largely untouched and has become a popular place for dog walkers and those who wish to walk along the Forth River Trail. The site is prone to flooding from the river and consequently it is regarded as undevelopable, though the Council retain ambitions to create a road and bridge link across the site to Cornton.

Kildean is an important part of TreeLink’s Crown of Trees where the walking route follows the Forth River Trail.

In 2018 Stirling Council published A Vision for Stirling River Park. Kildean was part of the River Park vision and showed that the site should become a place for nature.

In 2024 TreeLink secured grant funding through the Neighbourhood Ecosystem Fund to work up detailed proposals to create a place for nature at Kildean. This is a major opportunity to secure the site for nature and local people. TreeLink has commissioned RaeburnFarquarBowen (RFB) to prepare the proposals.

TreeLink wishes to see design proposals which contribute to the Crown of Trees and maximises the potential of the site to develop a range of natural habitats.

Over the coming months RFB wish to find out your thoughts about creating a place for nature at Kildean. You can find out more and leave your thoughts and comments below.
